Frequently Asked Questions

Take a minute to review some of the common questions asked about our travel therapy program. Our staffing recruiters are always happy to offer further insight on these questions, and answer any additional questions you might have.

Questions Regarding Housing:

Can I request a housing stipend in lieu of Medical Methods providing my housing?
Yes, if you are traveling away from your home for an assignment, we will be happy to provide you with a stipend if you would prefer to secure your own housing.

Can I help to choose my apartment?
Your recruiter will involve you with the selection of the apartment and the location. Many times, we can share photos of potential complexes, and we encourage your help in choosing the place that's right for you.

The major things that we consider when selecting an apartment are:
  • Is the apartment in a safe area?
  • Is the apartment located within a reasonable commute from the facility where the employee will be working?
  • Are the accommodations comfortable and acceptable?

When can I move in my apartment?
You are able to move in to your apartment two days prior to your assignment starting and you are able to stay in your apartment two days after your assignment ends. This should give you enough time to get settled and to make other arrangements after your assignment ends.

What type of laundry facility is offered?
If it is at all possible we will get a washer and dryer in your unit. There are rare occasions when this is not possible; however, if this is the case there is usually a laundry facility within the apartment complex.

What about the phone, cable and utilities?
Medical Methods will set up and pay all utilities with the exception of the phone and the cable. In some instances, the housing complex will offer free basic cable. Your recruiter will let you know the names and phone numbers of the cable and phone companies that you need to contact and assist you with any of your needs.

What should I bring with me on my travel assignment?
Medical Methods will provide fully furnished housing with a complete house wares package and basic utilities. You will only need to bring your personal items such as clothing and toiletries. You may also bring your computer, bicycle and other desired personal items.

Questions Regarding Employment:

Does Medical Methods guarantee a 40-hour work week?
Yes, all of our contracts are written to guarantee our travelers a 40-hour work week; however, assignments will vary.

What if there is a gap between assignments?
It is our goal to keep you on consecutive assignments with little or no gap. However, traveling employment is a partnership requiring flexibility on location and setting.

Does Medical Methods have assignments in different settings?
Yes, we have assignments in settings such as outpatient, hospital, sub acute, inpatient rehab, pediatrics, skilled nursing, and more. We contract with all types of customers throughout the United States, so our travelers enjoy a wide variety of assignments. Travelers must bear in mind that, although we have clients in all settings, we may not always have your preferred setting at the time of your availability.

Do I have to sign a contract and travel with you for a year?
No, you are only obligated to complete any assignment that you have agreed to.

Can I work in an assignment for longer than 3 months?
Yes, if the client still has an opening and would like for you to stay longer.

Can I stay permanently with a client after I have completed my travel assignment?
Yes, all of our staffing contracts include a buyout clause with our clients. If the client would like to hire you permanently, we will be happy to assist with this process.

Questions Regarding Expenses:

Does Medical Methods pay for traveling expenses to the assignment?
Yes, we provide a traveling allowance for each assignment. Your recruiter will determine this amount at the time you accept an assignment and reimburse the expenses to you once you start working there.

Will Medical Methods give me a per diem allowance?
A per diem amount can be negotiated; however each assignment is unique so please discuss specifics with your recruiter.

Does Medical Methods charge back my daily rent when I'm sick?
No! We do expect our travelers to complete a 40-hour work week consistently throughout their assignments. However, if you are sick or have a day off due to a national holiday, we will not take the daily rent out of your pay.

Does my rate of pay fluctuate from assignment to assignment?
No, your rate of pay will stay consistent throughout your employment with us. If there is an opportunity to offer you more money, we will gladly do so. However, we do not randomly decrease our travelers pay rate without first discussing this them.

Will Medical Methods reimburse me for CEU's or licensure requirements?
Yes, we provide a reimbursement allowance per assignment; please discuss details with your recruiter.

Questions Regarding Personal Issues:

Can I travel with my family?
Yes, you can travel with your family. Medical Methods is happy to secure a larger living space if you need it; however, the expense for the additional space will be your responsibility.

Will I have to work with different recruiters when I change assignments?
No, you will always work with the same recruiter that hired you for your entire employment with Medical Methods. Even if you work one assignment on the east coast and another on the west coast, you will not be expected to change recruiters. Your recruiter is qualified to market you for assignments nationwide.

What happens to my benefits if I move from state to state?
Your benefits will remain the same. We offer healthcare coverage through United Healthcare and the coverage is nationwide.

What do I do if I need assistance after normal business hours?
You will have your recruiter's cell phone number, and we will always have someone on call should your recruiter be unavailable.

Can I bring my pet?
We know how important and beneficial it is to have a loyal, loving companion with you. Just let your recruiter know the type and the weight of the pet and we will do our best to find a "pet friendly" home for both of you. Traveling with a pet does limit the housing selections available; however, we have been able to find many apartments that love your pet just as you do. Medical Methods will pay the security deposit for your housing; however, pet deposits and additional pet rent are the responsibility of the pet owner.
