Trav-el-ing

While attending a college career fair this week I looked around at the various vendors and medical employers and clearly new graduates have a lot of options.  In my opinion, healthcare traveling is one of the best.  I have spent some time this month thinking about our company’s college recruiting strategy and overall direction.  Medical Methods certainly has had an excellent track record with recognizing and hiring exceptional new graduates over the years.

I’ve talked with hundreds of new graduates and a lot of them are very interested in exploring traveling.  I can’t count how many times I’ve been asked to explain the concept.

 trav·el (tr v l)

v. trav·eled or trav·elled, trav·el·ing or trav·el·ling, trav·els

v.intr.

1. To go from one place to another, as on a trip; journey.

2. To be transmitted, as light or sound; move or pass.

3. To advance or proceed.

Traveling allows new graduates to gain experience in a variety of different settings without having to make long-term commitments.  A recruiter can help you navigate through the maze of opportunities and provide industry expertise.  A good recruiter can recommend assignments to new grads based on their previous internship experiences, career goals, and geographic preferences.

Also, paying off outstanding student loans as quickly as possible is a main objective for a number of them.  Given many of the benefits that come with travel assignments, such as company provided housing, paid health insurance, the Medical Methods mentoring program, and weekly per diems, they are able to enjoy these additional resources and more readily reduce their debt.

If you are a student or new graduate, I encourage you to take some time to speak with a Medical Methods representative to learn more about this awesome career alternative.  It’s an exciting way to finalize your transition from classroom to clinician and gain exposure to new settings.
